The mission of the Institute of Economics and Management is to train competent specialists in the fields of economics, business, and management, to conduct scientific research, and to foster innovations that make a tangible contribution to the economic development of the country and the region. The Institute focuses on preparing Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD candidates while preserving and advancing the best traditions of Kyrgyzstan’s higher professional education and science, simultaneously fostering an active civic position and research skills in its students.
History of the Institute
The first admission of students to economic specialties at Osh Technological University took place in 1991. In 1992, the first Faculty of Economics in southern Kyrgyzstan was founded. Throughout its 34-year history, the faculty has trained nearly 20,000 specialists in economics, finance, accounting, business, management, applied informatics, business informatics, business administration, logistics, and social work. On August 26, 2024, the Faculty of Economics and Management was reorganized into the Institute of Economics and Management.
The Institute Today
The Institute comprises four specialized departments staffed by over 50 employees, including:
- 3 Doctors of Sciences (Professors);
- 18 Candidates of Sciences (Associate Professors);
- 22 Master’s degree holders in Economics and Management.
Research on various aspects of the socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan and the region is conducted by 12 Doctoral students, 15 Postgraduates, and 16 PhD candidates.
Currently, the Institute has an enrollment of 1,450 undergraduate students and 175 Master’s students. To enhance the quality of education and professional training, the Institute maintains and strengthens reliable partnerships with employers, alumni, and leading domestic and international higher education institutions.
