Brief History of the Institute
The Technological Faculty was established in 1994, integrating the departments of “Chemistry and Technology,” “Light Industry Technology,” “Geology of Mineral Resources,” and “Ecology and Life Safety.”
- 1999: Renamed the Engineering-Technological Faculty, adding the “Food Production Technology” department and the “Subtropical Production Technology” sector. That same year, the Faculty of Ecology and Geology was formed from these departments.
- 2003: The Faculty of Technology and Nature Management was created by merging the Technological and Eco-Geological faculties.
- August 26, 2024: Following the Rector’s Order, the faculty was reorganized into the Institute of Technology and Nature Management.
Overview and Mission
Over its 30-year history, the Institute has trained more than 20,000 specialists in fields such as ecology, geology, forestry, disaster protection, agricultural processing, light industry, and chemical technology.
Mission: To train highly qualified modern specialists who uphold universal human values and are capable of making an effective contribution to the development of the Kyrgyz Republic. We focus on developing professional competencies and management skills, continuously improving the quality of our educational services.
Career Opportunities: Graduates find employment in ecological, geological, forestry, and water management sectors, as well as in the chemical, food, and light industries and various structural divisions of relevant ministries.
Facilities: The Institute provides modern lecture halls and laboratories equipped with advanced analytical and technological tools, interactive boards, and specialized software.
Staffing: The faculty includes 3 Doctors of Sciences (including one Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the KR), 22 Candidates of Sciences, 2 Honored Workers of Science and Education, and over 34 highly qualified lecturers.
Academic and Methodological Work
The Institute offers full-time and correspondence (distance) learning for two specialist programs, eight Bachelor’s programs, two Master’s programs, and five postgraduate/Doctoral specialties.
- Student Body: 1,629 total students (332 full-time, 1,422 correspondence).
- Dissertation Council: Since 2014, Council D 06.23.663 has operated for the defense of Doctoral and Candidate dissertations in Biological Sciences (Plant Protection, Ecology, Entomology, Crop Production, and Forestry).
- PhD Programs: As of 2024, a PhD program is available for the specialty 610600 Technology of Production and Processing of Agricultural Products.
Scientific Research and Innovation
Research activities are aligned with the priority socio-economic development goals of Kyrgyzstan. Key research areas include:
- Chemistry and chemical technologies in agriculture.
- Environmental protection, nature management, and biodiversity conservation.
- Light industry technology and new materials.
- Geology, mining, and oil/gas processing.
- Agricultural product processing and biotechnology.
- Technosphere safety and emergency protection.
Students actively participate in scientific conferences, symposia, and international research projects.
International Cooperation
The Institute is committed to the internationalization of science and education, integrating into the global and European educational spaces. We actively collaborate with organizations in:
- Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Italy, Germany, and China.
A future priority is the establishment of a Student Business Incubator (SBI). This initiative aims to involve students in the commercialization of innovative developments and science-intensive projects, providing them with hands-on experience in business team management.
